Chapter 5 · 5.8
Managing sheets
A spreadsheet (workbook) can have multiple sheets, like tabs in a folder. For example, one sheet per month, or a sheet with data and a sheet with the calculations.
- Click the plus sign at the bottom to add a new sheet.
- Click the name of a sheet to go to it.
- Drag a sheet left or right to change the order.
Right-click a sheet (1) for more options: Insert, Delete, Rename, Move or copy, Hide, Protect and choose a Tab color.

Calculating with another sheet
In a formula, you refer to a cell on another sheet using the sheet's name followed by an exclamation mark: =Expenses!B10. If the name contains a space, put it in single quotation marks: ='Expenses 2027'!B10. The easiest way: type = and then click the other sheet and the cell.
Tip: find a step-by-step guide to creating an overview that totals data from multiple sheets in A total overview from multiple worksheets: expenses, income and balance.
